Celebrating Carers Week at LSO

As we mark Carers Week (8-14 June), the London School of Osteopathy is proud to recognise the invaluable contribution of carers within our community and beyond.

Many carers balance work, study, and family responsibilities while providing ongoing support to loved ones. Their dedication, resilience, and compassion often go unnoticed, yet they make a significant difference to the lives of those they care for.

This year, we are especially pleased to celebrate our IT Officer, Matthew McKenzie, who was recently featured on BBC Radio 1Xtra Talks with Richie Brave during Caring Matters Week. During the interview, Matthew spoke about the experiences of Black carers in the UK and highlighted the importance of ensuring that carers receive the recognition and support they deserve.

Alongside his role at the London School of Osteopathy, Matthew is a passionate advocate for carers. Through his blog, A Caring Mind, he shares personal insights, experiences, and practical advice to support unpaid carers and raise awareness of the challenges they face.

Matthew’s contribution reflects the values that are important to us as an educational institution. Whether supporting students studying for a career in osteopathy or helping to raise awareness of important social issues, members of the LSO team make a positive impact both within and beyond our school community.

At the London School of Osteopathy, we recognise that many students, staff, graduates, and supporters also have caring responsibilities. The empathy, patience, resilience, and commitment demonstrated by carers are qualities that enrich our community and are closely aligned with the caring professions.
