Course structure and attendance
The course is delivered in a part-time framework over 5 years, for both the MOst and BOst.
The actual credit load (volume of student work) in years 1 – 3 is less than a full time degree course; in the final years it is the same as a full time degree course.
Teaching occurs on alternate weekends between September and June. The weekend schedule for 2010-11 is found here.
Lessons and workshops are timetabled between 9.30am and 5.15pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Additional time for student study and networking is available from 5.15 to 6.15pm both evenings.
Clinical training occurs at the on-site teaching clinic, and is in addition to the class based weekend teaching. The clinic is open for extended hours six days a week, 49 weeks a year. Students need to allocate sufficient time for their clinical studies. Whilst in year 1 it is only 50 hours, in years 4 & 5 it equates to one and two days a week respectively. Attendance is extremely flexible, but needs to be regular, and agreed in advance via a rota system.
